On July 1853, the town council approved construction of a new "Casa Comunale".
The project was the work of engineer Alberto Tappi of Carignano, and a budget of L. 32.680 was allocated.
Including demolition of the dilapidated existing building, the contract was awarded to Giovanni Negro, who offered a reduction of L. 940.
Work was to terminate by April 1855.
The new building, which has since been restored and renovated, is still functional today.
It houses the Council Services (Offices, Council Chamber, Library, ecc..), and a special room designed to display the ancient frescos from the chapel of the Madonna del Buontempo, in the Northwest corner of the town, not far from Frazione Borretti.
The chapel, which came under the patronage of the Roero di Ceresole family, was devorated with 16° century frescos in the apse, commissioned by Percivalle Roero.
The Monuments and Fine Arts Department had them stripped in the 1990s to rescue them from the building's advances state of decay, and they moved to their new home in the Town Hall.
